ACTIVITY OF THE EUROPE DIRECT ZAMORA CENTER

Local, provincial, and regional media have been invited to participate in an event called "CAFÉ WITH EUROPE," where the initiative "Use Your Vote" (https://elections.europa.eu/es/) will be introduced and the topic "The citizens of Zamora facing the European elections on Sunday, June 9, 2024" will be discussed.

Through a press conference invitation, the aim is to provide representatives of local media with detailed information about the institutional campaign promoting the elections on June 9 in Spain.

Celebrating Peace and Unity

 

On May 9th, 2024, we commemorate Europe Day, a significant occasion where we celebrate peace and unity across our continent. Each year, May 9th reminds us of the importance of cooperation and solidarity among European countries.

 

This emblematic date marks the anniversary of the historic "Schuman Declaration," in which Robert Schuman outlined his vision for a new form of political cooperation in Europe. This vision aimed to make war between European nations inconceivable through deeper economic and political integration. Schuman's proposal is considered the starting point of what we now know as the European Union, a project that has greatly contributed to the stability and prosperity of our continent.

 

To commemorate this important day, the Europe Direct Center in Zamora, integrated into the Rei Afonso Henriques Foundation, will organize an Open Day on May 9th, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. During this event, various activities will be held to celebrate European values of peace, unity, and cooperation.

🇵🇹 Celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution in Portugal! 🌹

 

We are pleased to announce a special event organized jointly by the SABARIA Association and the Rei Afonso Henriques Foundation to commemorate the historic April 25th, also known as the Carnation Revolution.

The event will feature the distinguished presence of Professor Perfecto Cuadrado, Chair of Galician and Portuguese Philologies, who will deliver a lecture entitled "Love as the Road Begins." This conference will explore the life and work of the prominent Portuguese poet and painter Mário Cesariny de Vasconcelos. Cesariny, the main representative of Portuguese surrealism, challenged established norms and embraced creative freedom, reflecting the spirit of rebellion and transformation of the Carnation Revolution.

 

This event aims to:

- Celebrate the Life and Work of Mário Cesariny: Honoring the memory and creativity of the Portuguese poet and painter by exploring his surrealist legacy and its impact on artistic and literary culture.

- Foster Academic Dialogue: The presence of Professor Perfecto Cuadrado will provide a unique opportunity for the exchange of ideas and knowledge, stimulating constructive debates on Cesariny's work and its relevance today.

- Inspire New Generations: By connecting Cesariny's figure with April 25th, we aim to motivate students, artists, and lovers of literature and art to explore creativity and expressive freedom.

 

This event is particularly significant due to the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, a crucial moment in Portugal's history that marked the end of dictatorship and the beginning of a new era of freedom and democracy. The conference will allow participants to reflect on the cultural and artistic relevance of Mário Cesariny, as well as his academic contribution to the fields of literature and art.
